UsTwo
UsTwo ("we," "our," or "us") built UsTwo as a freemium app for couples. This Privacy Policy explains how UsTwo handles your information. The short version: your notes, photos, and other content live in your own Apple iCloud account and sync only between you and your partner. We do not run our own servers, we do not use analytics or advertising, and we cannot read your private content.
By using UsTwo, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please don't use the app.
UsTwo lets you create and share, with one partner: your display names, love notes, moods, a "next time together" countdown, optional photos, optional profile avatars, and an optional coarse location (see below). This content is stored in your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit — in your private database and a shared database used only to sync between you and your paired partner.
We, the developer, operate no servers of our own and have no access to the contents of your private iCloud database. Your content is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and your iCloud settings.
To connect with your partner, UsTwo generates a short "couple code" and an Apple CloudKit share link. A minimal record containing this invite code and share link is stored in a public CloudKit database so your partner can join; it is deleted once the invite is used or expires (7 days). It does not contain your notes.
If you tap the location button while writing a note, UsTwo asks the system for your location, converts it to a city or place name (e.g. "London"), and attaches only that name to the note. Your exact coordinates are never stored or shared — they are discarded immediately after the city name is determined. Location is fully optional and requested per note.
If you attach a photo, you choose it through Apple's system photo picker. The selected image is stored in your iCloud (as above) so your partner can see it. UsTwo does not access your photo library beyond the image you pick.
If you enable reminders or schedule a note, UsTwo asks for notification permission to deliver them. This is optional and never required to use the app.
Information in UsTwo is used solely to provide the app's features: showing your partner's latest note on your widget, syncing between the two of you, displaying your countdown and moods, and delivering the reminders you opt into. Because your content stays in your iCloud, it is not used for any other purpose.
UsTwo relies on Apple as its infrastructure provider:
| Provider | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple iCloud / CloudKit | Stores and syncs your content in your own iCloud account | Apple Privacy |
| Apple App Store / In-App Purchase | Processes UsTwo Plus purchases | Apple Privacy |
We do not share your information with any other third parties, except where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Because your content lives in your own iCloud, you control it:
For help deleting data, email ustwoapp@proton.me.
Data is transmitted and stored through Apple iCloud, which encrypts data in transit and at rest. Access to your private database is controlled by your Apple ID. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but UsTwo's design — keeping data in your own iCloud with no developer-operated servers — minimizes exposure.
You can access, correct, export, or delete your content directly in the app and through your iCloud account at any time. For any request, contact ustwoapp@proton.me; we respond within 30 days.
UsTwo is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will help remove the data.
We may update this policy. We will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised policy at this URL. Significant changes may be noted in the app.
